I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you and your organisation.
I am a Masters of Design student from Dundee University and I am currently developing a research design project entitled Transitional Spaces, which aims to use the town of Kirkcaldy as the focus of the project development. The project will be investigating how the town centre urban environment and its public spaces can be linked in a cohesive way. I am currently investigating the possibilities of signage or wayfinding methods and digital gateways to enable public interaction within an urban setting.
The Transitional Spaces Research Project requires to be established in conjunction with relevant organisations and potential stakeholders in order to produce a substantial contribution to the development of Kirkcaldy Town Centre.
In establishing my research process, I am aware that there are currently several new and proposed developments and initiatives being considered at present, and I would endeavour, if possible, to develop my project ideas alongside these projects, as a link between the various stakeholders.
I would like the opportunity to discuss my design research with you and your organisation, in the near future, to establish how my project may act as a complement to the renewal and urban regeneration development of Kirkcaldy. I would be happy to present my research process to you at an early stage, to enable communication about the potential of the design project.
As well as studying on the MDes programme over the next two years, I am also a full time Curriculum Head and 3D Design Lecturer at Adam Smith College. I am a member of the Chartered Society of Designers and I have previously worked with several architectural and design practices in Scotland. I also live within the Kirkcaldy Town Centre area.
