Transitional spaces and portals is a design research project that aims to investigate the interaction  between urban spaces and human activity in town centres and high street environments.   Town centre high streets are usually about shopping, but there is potential in developing ideas and concepts that enables the creation of new public spaces to enhance and engage with the public and provide  people with a civic sense of place.
